Maaya Brooker

Maaya has been writing for… well forever. She has always been an avid writer and reader but as
a secondary school teacher (English and Media Studies) she never really had the time, until the
pandemic struck. During the lockdown Maaya was able to find time to write her first two books:
one a women’s fictional domestic drama and the other a children’s horror adventure book. Both
have done very well since being published, and her third book – a dark twisted thriller- was
published a year later. 

Maaya is currently writing her second in her children’s horror series The Danger Kids – this time
set in a travelling circus! These books are based on her daughter and her three best friends; the
ideas for these stories stemmed from going on walks with her daughter during lockdown where
she and her daughter talked through at least five books worth of stories!
Maaya enjoys writing characters that are realistic and relatable and antagonists that you just love
to hate. She especially enjoys reading horror, thriller and crime books, and her favourite books
when she was younger were the Point Horror and Point Crime series. Clearly a taste in the genre
that has bled out (excuse the pun) into her writing style.
