Neil Deuchar

Neil is series editor for new Imprint ‘Unheard Voices’ from publishers The Endless Bookcase. Unheard Voices has been set up to publish the work of writers who are homeless and will be launched at the Festival.

Neil is a recently retired consultant psychiatrist and senior health services director. During his NHS career Neil introduced spirituality into mental health care and advocated for the involvement of patients and carers in service delivery. Since retiring, Neil has supported higher education in environmental engineering for indigenous communities in Ecuador, given informal advice on collectivism for farmers in the Philippines, undertaken outreach in remote villages in Northern Ghana, and established a recording studio and production infrastructure for rap artists from all backgrounds in Accra. He is training to become a spiritual counsellor and interfaith minister and currently works voluntarily in the fields of conflict transformation, peace-building and victim support. He has written his first novel, out soon.

Neil will be on the stand of publishers The Endless Bookcase in the Author Market for the launch on Unheard Voices at 10.30am on Saturday 18th May.
