I always wanted to be an author, but I never believed I could actually write a whole book.
The idea intimidated me, and I didn’t have the confidence to try until my late twenties. I have
author Jen Sincero to thank for that, after a friend bought me her book, You Are a Badass, for
my birthday. My life changed that year, and I highly recommend it.
 
When I was 28, I actually finished writing a book! It attracted its publishers in a Twitter event
called PitMad, and the actual story was inspired by a dream. The Guidal: Discovering
Puracordis was released in April 2022, and the third instalment, The Guidal: Saving Light,
will be released at Herts Book Festival on Saturday 18 th May.

Originally intended to be a trilogy, The Guidal series has recently been approved for an
additional book, and so the fourth is my current work in progress. The series follows a 16-
year-old girl who was taken at three years old to be raised in an incredibly strict institute. As
she desperately tries to overcome the challenges of being raised in such an oppressive
environment, she discovers something about herself that frightens her: something that would
frighten everyone around her if they ever found out, and something she would be wanted
dead for. It’s a mixture of near-future, teen angst, and a rollercoaster journey of unpredictability.
