In the Main Studio

  • 10.00 – 10.30am : Baby Rhyme Time hosted by Ware Library
  • 10.30am – 10.45am : Reading Time with Book Festival authors
  • 11.00am – 11.45am : Yoga Fun for Kids – Maria Oliver of Boxmoor Yoga brings her ever-popular kids’ yoga to the Book Festival with a fun and creative session to get children to move their bodies and relax their minds. Open to children of all ages; mats are provided.
  • 1.00pm – 1.50pm : Poetry Open Mic – Organised by Ware Poets. Experienced poet or beginner, young or old, you are welcome to read your work to a friendly and enthusiastic audience of poetry-lovers – or simply come along to listen.
  • 2.00pm – 2.50pm : Author panel- How to write a gripping read  – Authors AJ Campbell, Jay Bhatti and Alastair McIver, experts in keeping readers gripped in their novels, talk about how they ramp up the tension and create the suspense. Panel hosted by crime writer Karen Skinner.
  • 3.00pm – 4.00pm : Author Talk- Meet the Ware-Wolf… – Horror/sci-fi/comics author Matt Adcock brings his new spine-tingling tale ‘The Ware-Wolf’ to the Festival and discusses how the local area and its legends can be a rich source of ideas for writers. 

In the South Cowl room

  • 11.00am – 11.50am : Writing workshop-Your Adventure Awaits… How to Write a Gamebook  – Writer and games designer Ken Boyter will guide you through the basics and give you the building blocks so you too, can create thrilling and nail-biting gamebook adventures!
  • 12.00pm – 12.50pm : Poetry Workshop-Playing Around with Poetry – In this relaxed and friendly workshop, poet Chris Burleigh invites you to try your hand at writing verse based on a familiar story. This will be a fun workshop for anyone, age 11 upwards – no poetry writing experience necessary, just a willingness to play with words!
