about the dragon…? In his book Hollow Places, Christopher Hadley traces the evolution of this
strange tale in the Pelham villages, while in The Road he goes back further in time to find the
ghost of a Roman road.

Nick Jubber’s new book Monsterland, ‘a journey around the dark imagination through the ages’,
investigates our never-ending fascination with monsters. Why in the 21 st century, do they still
have such a hold on our minds and our culture?
