Polly Owen

With a degree in mathematics and statistics, Polly Owen loves incorporating serious science into
silly picture books. Nature and history play a big part in her non-fiction books but she also loves
to write in rhyme. 

Polly was shortlisted for the Winchester Writers’ Festival in 2017 and 2018. She has written for
Storytime Magazine and her debut picture book Darwin’s Super-Pooping Worm Spectacular was
published in January 2023.

Darwin’s Super-Pooping Worm Spectacular is the funny and fascinating story of Charles Darwin
and the groundbreaking discoveries that resulted from his love of the humble worm. Told for the
first time for children, this is the silly and true story of how Charles Darwin came to discover
that the humble earthworm is the most important species on our planet.

Polly is a member of the Earthworm Society and enjoys gardening, painting and comedy.
